Felicitaties voor geslaagden
Diploma n Vanwege de coronacrisis zijn de centrale eindexamens dit jaar geschrapt en is op grond van de resultaten van de schoolexamens bepaald wie geslaagd is. De meeste middelbare scholieren weten inmiddels of ze hun diploma gehaald hebben. Op donderdag 4 juni organiseert het Landelijk Aktie Komitee Scholieren (LAKS) in afstemming met het ministerie van Onderwijs. Cultuur en Wetenschappen (OCW) een nationale dag waarop geslaagde scholieren hun vlag uit kunnen hangen.
De Oegstgeester Courant biedt ieder jaar familie en vrienden hun geslaagde (klein)kind/broer/zus/nicht/neef/vriend/vriendin in het zonnetje te zetten. Ook dit jaar.
Mail een foto van de geslaagde met daarbij maximaal twintig woorden tekst naar redactie@oegstgeestercourant.nl onder vermelding van GESLAAGD! Plaatsing is geheel gratis. Inzendingen voor de krant van 4 juni moeten uiterlijk maandag 1 juni om 16.00 uur in bezit van de redactie zijn.
LET OP: Bij de ingezonden foto's en teksten wordt ervan uit gegaan dat de gefotografeerde personen – of in het geval van minderjarigen hun ouders – toestemming geven voor publicatie.
What is Freedom?

This month we were celebrating freedom day. It’s so special word for me. As I was always fighting for freedom, I think since I was in school. Took me years to figure out what is the word means, I can say, I realized the real meaning of that word when I was locked down in the Dutch border detention centre.
Anyway, last week I was a victim of discrimination, from a Dutch professor, and his friends, they were mocking my religion the Islam, under the name of freedom, I got so angry, and sad. I could do the same and mock them and mock their beliefs. I was about to do so. But I stopped myself, because somehow it didn’t feel like me. I don’t mock someone’s religions or belief or ideas; especially when there is no harm in these beliefs. I asked them gently to stop what they’re doing, but they didn’t, I called them racists when they told me “You’re ungrateful refugee, go back to your country, this is Holland; the land of freedom”
I don’t know if people will agree with me or not. But I believe freedom is a responsibility, our freedom is not for guaranteed, people paid their lives for the freedom we have now. And it shall include respect the feelings of others. And yes it’s called freedom but there must be some restriction around it; otherwise people will miss-use it and turn our lives to bad place.
